“We're a busy bunch, and this is what our average year entails”
Our company has some regular events that occur every year, come rain or shine. We've detailed some of these below.
If you have any further questions regarding events, please contact us at info@1stsunderlandgb.org.uk .
Subscriptions
Subs are paid termly, or they can be paid yearly. Subs are due on the first Friday of each term.
At Fulwell we participate in the Gift Aid scheme. This increases the amount of money we receive without any additional cost to you.
Gift Aid
If you have not yet completed a Gift Aid form, or your details have changed, please speak to us on a company evening to complete a form.
Parents' Evening
Parents’ Evening is held each year and is a special occasion when parents, family and friends are invited to come along and support the girls.
During the evening, the girls receive awards for their attendance at Company evening. Prizes are also presented to one girl in each age group who has shown that she has always tried her best and given everything she has been asked to do her all.
Parents’ Evening is also a wonderful opportunity to see what the girls have been doing over the past few months. The girls entertain us by taking part in some of the activities they enjoy during Company evenings, giving everyone a chance to see what they have been learning and enjoying.
Enrolment
Enrolment takes place during a Company evening, when we welcome new girls into the Company and celebrate those who continue to attend each week. It is a special opportunity to recognise the girls' commitment, enthusiasm and individual contributions.
During the evening, the girls take part in a special enrolment ceremony and make their promises as members of the Girls' Brigade. It is a chance for everyone to celebrate being part of the Company and to look forward to the year ahead.
Activity Weekend
Each year our company attends an activity weekend at an adventure centre.
Girls over the age of 7 are able to attend. Each year we aim to take part in different activities, giving each girl opportunities to learn new life skills and grow into a capable young woman.
The weekend is a great opportunity to try new things, develop confidence and spend time together outside our usual company evenings.

Developing Young Leaders
Girls' Brigade offers a structured approach to the development and equipping of our younger leaders.
