What GB do

“A little background on us and what we aim to achieve”

GB Ministries logo In 2017 Girls’ Brigade Ministries became the operating name of Girls’ Brigade England & Wales, supporting children and young people through Christian faith, friendship, fun and opportunities to grow.

A place to belong, grow and have fun together

At 1st Sunderland Girls’ Brigade, we are proud to be part of both the wider Girls’ Brigade family and our local Fulwell community. We provide a friendly and welcoming environment where children and young people can make friends, take part in activities, explore their faith and develop skills that can stay with them throughout life.

Our aim is simple: to encourage every child and young person to know Jesus, grow in faith and live life to the full.

Through weekly meetings, special events, activities and opportunities for leadership and service, we encourage our members to try new things, develop their abilities and discover what they are capable of achieving.

Our leaders and volunteers are passionate about creating a safe, positive and enjoyable environment where children and young people can learn, grow and have fun together.

We believe that every member has something special to offer. Whether they are discovering Girls’ Brigade for the first time or have been part of the company for many years, we want everyone to feel welcomed, valued and encouraged to be themselves.

Who We Are

We bring together girls and young women aged 5 to 18, with a dedicated section for those aged 18 and over. Our groups provide a friendly and welcoming environment where members can meet new people, make friends, learn new skills and enjoy a wide range of activities and experiences.

We encourage our members to develop confidence, discover their strengths, learn new skills and grow into capable and confident young women who can make a positive difference in their communities.

What We Aim To Achieve

Everything we do is designed to help our members learn, grow, belong and have fun. Our programme gives girls the opportunity to try new experiences, overcome challenges and develop skills that will benefit them both now and in the future.

Above all, we want every girl to know that she is welcome, valued and supported, whatever her age, background or ability.

Our Aim

Know Jesus. Grow in faith. Live life to the full.

We want every member of 1st Sunderland Girls’ Brigade to have opportunities to discover who they are, develop their confidence, build lasting friendships and explore what it means to follow Jesus. Through faith, friendship, fun and service, we aim to help every young person flourish and become the best version of themselves.

Our Company Evening

Come along, get involved and have fun!

The Girls' Brigade is a uniformed organisation and we at Fulwell pride ourselves on giving each girl a sense of belonging to the company by wearing our uniform.

The uniform gives social equality to all the girls, giving the youngest to the oldest a chance to interact and have a good time on an equal footing.

Details of our uniform can be found on our Uniform Page .

When We Meet

Our company meets each Friday at Fulwell Methodist Church during school term time.
